2nd Anniversary Trip
Another fun tradition that we have started is going on a trip on or around our anniversary. It can be a big trip or a small one, doesn't matter as long as we can get away for a little bit.
We spent the rest of Sunday lounging around our hotel watching tv and waiting for the season premier of "The Walking Dead". So our night ended with us eating kettle corn in our bed watching the zombie apocalypse go down on one of our favorite shows.
This year we decided to go to Oklahoma City. We drove down Friday afternoon after we both got off of work which meant we didn't get settled into our hotel until around 8 that night. So that means it was room service and "The Walking Dead" marathon for the two of us.
Saturday we did a lot, which made for a lot of walking for me. But it was totally worth it and was such a fun day. Minus the whole struggling to understand how to get around the city. And minus the fact that my car got hit in a hit and run in one of the parking lots and the bumper got some paint damage.
On Saturday we went to the OKC Zoo, a shooting store (which was also a range...it was super cool!) , lunch at Taco Mayo (which his uncle Bryce said we had to try), Bass Pro Shop (which was his second time at one (last year's trip was his first one), & shopping at the outlet mall. After that we decided to relax at the hotel for a bit before trying out a BBQ place for dinner. Apparently people in Oklahoma do not like Texas, something I learned at this BBQ place.
Sunday was another busy and fun day. We started the day off with going to the Oklahoma City Memorial. We didn't get to go inside the actual memorial because it was closed but we walked around all of the outside exhibits. It was such an eye opener and totally worth it. After that we drove to the capitol building and the veteran's memorial. It was cool to see and Payden loves things like that. Before lunch we decided to go to Lake Hefner and walk around. It was so pretty. Plus after my bad attempt at a selfie photo of us I gave in and I asked some random couple to take a picture of us which I'm obsessed with.
We are lunch at Cattlemen's Steakhouse because it was on two of The Food Network shows that we watch: Man vs. Food & Diners, Driveins & Dives. It was good but not the best and defiantly not worth the money that we spent.
After lunch we went and explored the Bricktown District and the Riverwalk down there. It was so pretty and had so many interesting restaurants. Plus it reminded me of the Riverwalk in San Antonio. One of my favorite things about the trip. And I asked another random person to take a picture of us.

And Monday, which happened to be our actual anniversary (anniversary dedicated blog post coming shortly) we spent by waking up early (for vacation), packing up our things, grabbing the free breakfast from the hotel, checking out of the hotel and heading back home. We both missed our cat kid, Vegas very much but were bummed to have to say goodbye to vacation. Before we left the hotel room, I gave Payden his present and card from me. Nothing major just a movie and a sweet card. I'm the gift giver in the relationship.
This was an amazing vacation and although it literally just ended I have the urge to start planning our next one. But I have a lot of real world things to do this week (including filing a claim on my car, calling my doctor about a medical concern and going to my wisdom teeth removal consultation), so vacation day dreaming and planning will have to wait for awhile.
Plus the holidays are coming up!
