Movie Review: Young Adult

Image
So my Netflix marathon while Payden is out of town hasn’t gone as I had planned. I haven’t gotten many movies in like I thought I would but oh well, I am staying busy because I have amazing friends who are checking up on me and planning evenings with me to help the time go by. (Nice to know, in case in the future I will have him leaving for longer periods of time…we never know what will come next for us in our lives together). Anyway, last night I watched the movie “Young Adult”. I had really wanted to see this movie when it was in theaters because it was from the writer of “Juno”—one of my all time favorite movies. But let me tell you this, I can’t believe I actually made myself watch the whole movie, I mean it was on Netflix, I could had stopped it and moved on with my life and no one would had known. But I just kept watching it, even though I didn’t find it funny like I expected it would be and a lot of the time I was just bored out of my mind. I mean the story line made it to where...

Movie Review: Playing For Keeps

Image
So Payden is officially out of town for a week, so I am slowly getting things cleaned up around the house, caught up on my shows, hanging out with some friends and watching some movies on Netflix.  A productive week as a single housewife in my mind. Last night I watched the movie  Playing for Keeps . I have been wanting to see this movie since it was in theaters but never got around to doing it. I am always down for a movie with Gerald Butler in it, but this wasn’t all that good. Pretty sure there have been a million movies with the same story line. This movie was good, had a lot of great actors/actresses in it but it moved too slowly for my liking, and the whole concept was “been there, done that”. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good movie but it wasn’t anything new, and it wasn’t too funny so there was really nothing that made the movie stand out. So if I was giving it a grade, maybe a C… mediocre.  Hopefully the other movies I watch this week while he is gone are a littl...

Five on Friday

Image
1.-- Although we are a little bummed that things haven't worked out here the way we planned, we are looking forward with our heads held high. Something will work out, and in the mean time we have each other's back  2.-- umm a picture of North West has surfaced! Needless to say I was obsessed, cute as heck!  3.-- Payden leaves next Wednesday! I have a love/hate relationship with him being gone. Plus I know Vegas isn't going to be happy.  4.-- I have officially already wrapped a few Christmas presents. I mean, why not: only 124 days until Christmas!  5.-- Guys, I'm almost 24! I feel like an old lady for my age.  Until next time, --Amber Marie

Waiting Game Changes

We knew that going into the military route there would be a lot of changes, lies and ups and downs. Come to find out he was not told the full truth about his test and that has really put a hold to our situation. When first talking to his recruiter he was told that since he was not applying for a pilot position that the pilot portion of the test would not count against him… when in truth it was. So he passed everything thing else but was told to stop the process until he can retake the test in 6 months. So we may or may not be continuing this journey. I know it is hard on him to hear that and as of right now he is just frustrated. We may look into other branches but as of now we are not sure. I know how hard he wants to better our lives together and how hard it is for him to tell me that things aren’t working out the way that he wants. I hate to see him like this. But as I have said a million times before and I will continue saying a million times from here on out, I am nothing but prou...

Miller Wedding

Image
As I've said before, my sorority little sister Annie asked me to be Matron of Honor in her wedding. It has been alot of work and planning but I was honored.  The wedding was lady night and it ran really smoothly, but there were some problems but it all got worked out in the end.  The bridal shower and bachelorette party went so well and the wedding and reception were beautiful. Annie made such a beautiful bride and the groom, Brandon, was quite handsome as well. It was a wonderful wedding to be apart if and it was so much fun.  Annie carried my Alpha Phi badge on her bouquet and I was honored that she wanted to show out connection that way in her wedding.  It was my first time giving a speech, but her sister and I joined our speeches together and I think it was perfect! I was very proud of us and glad that Annie enjoyed it.  Here are done pictures that I took of the big day, I will hopefully be able to post some of the professional photos once they are posted. (...

Waiting game continued...

Well world, my  handsome wonderful  husband  Payden  has officially taken his USAF OTC test.  He finished his test this afternoon and since he asked for the whole day off we even got to sneak in a lunch date together. I woke up this morning to see him all freshly shaven and nicely dressed, ready to take his test. You know he is serious when he gets rid of his beard that he is so proud of! Now we are gathering references and transcripts to have the full application sent out by the end of September .   And then from there is even more of the waiting game that we have currently been playing. We will not have a result of what is to come next for us until December 12 th -20 th . We are hoping for the best news so that our Christmas is one to remember but we have a lot of praying and hoping until that time comes. PLEASE, please, please continue to send every positive vibe you can think of our way. There is nothing else in the world right now that he is wanting (a...

Five on Friday.

Image
I follow a lot of different blogs and I am trying to blog more so I wanted to jump on the band wagon/train for this trend. Five on Friday: Five random things on my mind on this very Friday. 1.--This waiting game we are currently playing is far more stressful on me then I am letting on. I hate not knowing what is coming next in our lives, and I honestly don’t think there is anything more that we want in our lives right now then for this process to work out… well besides a baby… ( or  maybe that is just me) .  Please continue sending out prayers and positive vibes our way. 2.--I am counting down the days for October, for MANY reasons: Blake Shelton concert, Color Vibe Run, our anniversary, and our anniversary trip. Plus I really need it to be fall; I am dying to wear boots with my dresses! 3.--I am in a wedding next weekend and I think I am more stressed about this weeding then I ever stressed for my own. Makes me even gladder ( is that a word,  that sounds weird) that we g...

Movie Review: Broken City

Image
I will rent any movie that has Mark Wahlberg in it, no joke I have an obsession with him (so much that I still call him Markie Mark: even though I wasn't technically alive then). I have had this movie on our Netflix list for awhile and we finally got the chance to watch it.  The movie was really good but to be honest the story line was somewhat hard to follow. It isn't a movie that you can lazily watch, you have to stay somewhat attentive. But it was still a good movie but is defiantly not my favorite Markie Mark movie.

Movie Review: Red 2

Image
This past Saturday  Payden  and I finally went and saw the movie “Red 2” in theaters. Like I said in my previous post,  Payden  and I had been meaning to see this movie  for awhile now  since it came out but other things or other movies just got in the way. We LOOOVED the first one, so we had high expectations for the second one.  And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I really think this movie was just as good, if not a little better then the first one. It had everything you would want in a movie, a lot of action and humor and amazing actors/acting. I would really recommend this movie to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet and wants to. If you liked the first film then you will like this one as well. It was just a good flick all around.  Loved it.

Hamilton Couple’s Weekends

Image
Most weekends, let’s be honest… we normally spend at home. Maybe we venture out and go to dinner and/or a movie but most of the time it is Netflix marathons at our apartment.  Mainly because I am cheap and we are lazy…  Our typical date nights include dinner  and/ or a  movie,  we don’t go downtown and drink so the sort of ‘night life’ is really not our style. Wichita doesn’t have a bunch of activities for adults that doesn’t include clubby atmospheres. I completely enjoy our style of date nights and have no problem with being ‘home bodies’ and spending a lot of our time at home. If we aren’t working out together, we spend a lot of our night watching movies and Netflix. We both enjoy movies so it works out well for us. Sundays for us are almost always consisting of us going to his parents’ house to do laundry…since Sundays are my only days off and we do not have a washer/dryer in our apartment. If it is a birthday weekend or some holiday Sundays are typically sp...

Cat Chronicles #4

Image
I know, I know I just wrote a post about our cat yesterday .. Sorry , I love her! This happened last night and I felt the need to share it! This blog is for people who choose to follow it to keep up with our lives, but in all reality it may only be for me to document everything we go through to look back upon later in life. If that is the case, so be it. I don’t do this for entertainment for others, I do this for the love of writing and for the fact that I truly love my life, and my relationship and want to look back at a later date to see what we have gone through. -- Awhile ago   Almost a year ago we bought Vegas cat 6 foot cat tower for our living room. And ever since then she has been OBSESSED with it, which I guess is the point of it. But she is always sitting on the top level and watching everything we do in the living room. But last night was the funniest event ever. She was perched up as tall/long as she could get on the top level staring off into the center of the ceiling,...
